World Day Against Child Labour 12 June 2026

World Day Against Child Labour Campaign Event : The World Day Against Child Labour Campaign Event was held at the Auditorium of the 72nd Anniversary Commemoration Building, Building 6, 3rd Floor, Surasakmontree School. The event was organized by the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, Ministry of Labour, and was presided over by H.E. Mr. Julapun Amornvivat, Minister of Labour.

Objective : The World Day Against Child Labour 2026 was organized under the theme “United for the Red Card Campaign: End Child Labour, Support Healthy Childhood Development, and Promote Decent Work for Working-Age People.” The event aimed to raise public awareness of child labour issues and encourage collective efforts to eliminate child labour in line with the commitments of the International Labour Organization (ILO).

1. Vision for the Elimination of Child Labour

  • The event adopted the “Red Card” symbol to represent a firm rejection of rule violations and the exploitation of child labour.

  • The Minister of Labour emphasized that addressing child labour requires an integrated, multi-ministerial approach to tackle the root causes of economic hardship and livelihood challenges. He also highlighted the importance of supporting young people in developing new skills through upskilling and reskilling initiatives to prepare them for the rapidly evolving AI-driven world.

  • The President of the Children and Youth Council of Thailand delivered a statement reaffirming the commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s rights.

2. Youth Development Activities

  • A panel discussion was organized to share experiences and perspectives on age-appropriate work opportunities for children and youth, such as holiday employment in safe workplaces that do not interfere with education. Employer representatives highlighted the value of workplace discipline, while government representatives emphasized the need to enhance awareness of relevant labour laws to ensure that children are adequately protected.

  • Educational scholarships were awarded to 10 students, each receiving THB 2,000, along with a THB 5,000 grant to support the school marching band.
