On May 26, 2025, TTIA Dr. Chanintr, as Vice Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, attended the Memorandum of Understanding on the Prevention of Child Labor and Forced Labor in the Shrimp, Fish, Sugarcane, Garments and Downstream Products (Fishmeal, Fish Oil and Animal Feed) Group, chaired by Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labor, organized by the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare at the Ministry of Labor.

     The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare, the Department of Fisheries, the Department of Livestock Development, the Office of the Cane and Sugar Board, the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Thai Industries, the Fisheries Association of Thailand, the Thai Fishmeal Producers Association, the Thai Animal Feed Manufacturers Association, the Thai Tuna Industry Association, the Thai Frozen Foods Association and 3 Sugar Factory Associations to demonstrate their joint commitment to preventing child labor and forced labor and to create strong cooperation between the public and private sectors in the shrimp, fish, sugarcane, garments and downstream products (fishmeal, fish oil and animal feed) and related areas throughout the supply chain. Effective for a period of 4 years from 2025-2029

      The event organized a seminar on the topic of Eliminating Child and Forced Labor for Sustainable Economic Opportunities, where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Foreign Trade worked through communication with the United States to show Thailand’s commitment to solving the problem of child and forced labor. For the private sector, the Thai Frozen Food Association has agreed with its US trading partners not to use operators who use illegal labor, and has collaborated with various associations to implement GLP measures to raise labor standards throughout the supply chain.

      The association co-organized an exhibition booth to present guidelines for promoting labor operations, and presented its work and proposals to the Minister of Labor to acknowledge, in order to show its commitment to solving the problem of child and forced labor in the Thai tuna industry.
